Astana, February 20, 2025 – First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akan Rakhmetullin met with the newly appointed Director of the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure (RATS) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Ularbek Sharsheev.
The parties exchanged views on the development of the situation in the field of ensuring security and stability in the region and noted the importance of implementing the conclusions of the SCO Astana Summit held on July 4, 2024.
A. Rakhmetullin highly appreciated the RATS's activities in coordinating the joint efforts of the SCO member states in combating terrorism, separatism and extremism. Noting the advanced level of practical cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Executive Committee, he expressed support for joint work, including on issues of improving the SCO.
The parties also discussed the prospects for further development of the SCO activities aimed at strengthening regional security.
At the end of the meeting, A. Rakhmetullin congratulated U. Sharsheev on his appointment and wished him successful work in this position.
