Today, Akim of the region Serik Shapkenov met with Deputy Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation Tobias Werder and head of the mission of the United Nations Migration Agency for Migration (IOM) in Kazakhstan, Coordinator for Central Asia Serkhan Aktoprak.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the IOM project "Pre-training Center", aimed at providing support to those who want to work in another country.
The head of the UN Mission in Kazakhstan, Serkhan Aktoprak, noted that this project will have a great impact on reducing unemployment, strengthening partnerships and global migration movements.

Serik Shapkenov said that he intends to further develop cooperation with IOM and is interested in launching the project on a pilot basis in Atyrau.
"For our region, where large oil and gas projects are based, the issue of employment of specialists is of particular importance. We employ a large number of qualified professionals with unique experience. This experience is in demand far beyond the borders of Kazakhstan, and our task is to provide our specialists with the opportunity to realize their potential in the international arena. The pre-training center will be a powerful help in this area. It will allow our citizens not only to increase their competitiveness, but also to receive all the necessary information, complete training, and familiarize themselves with the conditions and requirements of employment in other countries. In addition, the launch of such a project on a pilot basis in Atyrau is a strategically important step, we believe that the Pre–training Center will become an impetus for the successful employment of our citizens abroad, strengthening partnerships and developing global migration," Shapkenov said.
For reference: more than 1,000 residents of Atyrau region work in countries such as Russia, Qatar, UAE, South Korea, Hungary, Czech Republic, etc.
