This year, about 470,000 hectares of acreage have been watered using water-saving technologies. In addition, 58,000 hectares of land have been leveled with a laser planner. These measures have reduced the cost of irrigation water.
The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation has developed a Roadmap for water conservation for 2024-2026. The document provides for 39 events.
In order to encourage farmers to switch to water-saving technologies and implement water-saving policies, subsidies for farmers' costs for infrastructure construction, purchase and installation of water-saving systems were increased from 50% to 80%.
"To fulfill the instructions of the Head of State, specific indicators have been approved in each region to increase the acreage where water-saving systems are installed, and a step-by-step plan has been developed. Thus, by the end of 2030, the ministry intends to save up to 2.2 billion cubic meters of water per year," said Berikbol Mandibayev, director of the Department for the Development of Water–saving Technologies.
