A demonstration of flood forecasting and modeling systems was held at the EMERCOM Command Center. Tasqyn.gov.kz , Talsim and Delft-FEWS. Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov got acquainted with the projects.
The system Tasqyn.gov.kz It will allow you to prevent emergencies and make forecasts for making strategic decisions. The demonstration of the system was carried out by specialists of the National Company "Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary" and "Kazhydromet".
Today, a methodology for forecasting and modeling floods has been developed and approved. According to the methodology, the authorized bodies enter into the information system such data as the water level in reservoirs, the volume of drainage and hydrometeorological forecasts. Based on the collected data, the system simulates possible flood scenarios.
In the future, it is planned to hold training seminars for representatives of interested government agencies and organizations.
TalsimNG software is a German development integrated into the Dutch Delft-FEWS platform. The system will allow to improve models of forecasting and management of water resources, to improve forecasting of inflow to reservoirs. The software demonstration was conducted by Khairulla Kairatgali, Chairman of the Information and Analytical Center for Water Resources.
The use of the Delft-FEWS platform is carried out within the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Dutch Institute of Water Education IHE Delft.
After reviewing the projects, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov asked the developers questions and stressed the need for constant data exchange between forecasting systems.
"The introduction of modern forecasting and modeling systems is an important step in flood risk management. More accurate forecasts will make it possible to better prepare for floods and make timely decisions together with other state and local executive bodies," said Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation.
