The Commission on Aquatic Bioresources of the Caspian Sea has started its work

As part of the Agreement on the Conservation and Rational Use of Aquatic Biological Resources of the Caspian Sea, the Intergovernmental Commission on the Conservation, Rational Use of Aquatic Biological Resources and Management of their Joint Reserves began its work in Astrakhan.
In 2024, the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission is being held under the chairmanship of the Russian Federation.
The meeting is attended by representatives of scientific organizations and law enforcement agencies of the five Caspian littoral states.
The Kazakh delegation is headed by Acting Chairman of the Committee of Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ayan Bakhiyanov.
The meeting discusses reports from the Parties on the use of fishing quotas, on the reproduction and protection of aquatic biological resources of the Caspian Sea, the state of aquatic biological resources based on marine scientific research, as well as issues related to the approval of fishing quotas for joint aquatic biological resources for 2025, the extension of the ban on commercial fishing of segregated fish species in the Caspian Sea and other issues.. The Commission's work will last until December 20.
The relevant Protocol will be adopted following the meeting.
