During a briefing at the CCS in Almaty, Mayor Yerbolat Dosayev answered a question from journalists about the timing of the transfer of schools to single-shift education, as well as measures taken to reduce the shortage of student places.
"This year we started the process of transferring 43 schools to single–shift education - it's my dream to have children study in one shift. And we see a positive trend in this. In the long term, it is planned to transfer at least 40% of schools to single-shift education by the end of 2027, which will amount to about 95 schools. This will make it possible to organize extracurricular activities, as the transition to single-shift education will help relieve the burden on children that arises in a two-shift regime," said Yerbolat Dosayev.
The head of the megacity noted that at the beginning of the school year, city schools face a shortage of student places, which is about 30 thousand. The construction of Comfortable schools, initiated by the Head of State, will solve this problem.
"As part of the Comfortable School project, we will receive 22,000 student places. Thanks to these measures, by the next academic year, the deficit will decrease to a "manageable" level - 3-4 thousand places. Next, the akimat will build and modernize educational facilities at the expense of its own investments. This will ensure that the deficit does not grow in the future," said the mayor of the city.
