The results of sports achievements in 2024 were summed up in the Almaty region and the Khan Taniri award ceremony was held. The ceremony was organized at the Konaev House of Culture.
"Our region is known not only in the country, but also abroad for its sporting achievements. Therefore, we pay special attention to the issues of financing, organizing the preparation process and strengthening the material and technical base. This tradition will be continued in the future," said Marat Sultangaziev, Akim of the Almaty region.
The Khan Tangiri Award was presented in eight nominations: "Best Athlete", "Best Coach", "Best Sports Club", "Best Sports Institution", "Best Sports Federation", "Best Sports District" and "Best Sports Club".

At the end of the year, athletes from the Almaty region won 2,258 medals, 789 of them gold. This is one of the best indicators in Kazakhstan. During the year, the region has trained 5 international-class masters of sports, 46 masters of sports and 1,189 candidates for masters of sports.
Special attention in the field is paid to mass sports. Since the beginning of the year, 4,557 sporting events have been organized, 41.4% of the population is engaged in physical education.
In order to train young athletes, there are 25 sports schools for children and teenagers, which have more than 23 thousand students. Children and teenagers train in 67 sports.< There are 1,891 sports facilities operating in the Almaty region today. In 2025, it is planned to build 15 more new facilities, and design estimates for four sports buildings are being developed.
