According to the results of 10 months of 2024, the volume of production of petrochemical products amounted to 460.7 thousand tons or 171.2% compared to the same period last year (2023 – 269 thousand tons). There is an increase in all products of the industry.
In particular:
- methyl tert-butyl ether – 37.3 thousand tons or 114.6% compared to the same period last year (2023 – 33.1 thousand tons);
- polypropylene – 241 thousand tons or 156% compared to the same period last year (2023 – 154.1 thousand tons);
- benzene – 26.6 thousand tons or 133% compared to the same period last year (2023 – 20 thousand tons);
paraxylene – 109.4 thousand tons an increase of 6 times (2023 – 17.8 thousand tons);
- lubricants – 46.2 thousand tons or 105.2% compared to the same period last year (2023 – 43.9 thousand tons).
The main markets for the products are the EU, CIS, China, Turkey, and Russia.
Also, the industry implements projects for the production of butadiene and its derivatives with a capacity of up to 305 thousand tons /year, polyethylene up to
1,250 thousand tons/year with a launch date until 2030.
Thus, the Ministry is working on the reorientation of the oil and gas sector from a raw material orientation to the production of products with high added value, that is, the development of the petrochemical industry.
