In the Karaganda region, the shortage of medical specialists has been reduced by 62% in two years. This was facilitated by measures such as raising lifting fees and providing office housing. The HR strategy in healthcare does not stand still. Starting next year, grants from the akim of the region for admission to the bachelor's degree program at the medical university will be issued.
– Over the past two years, 563 medical specialists have been involved in the healthcare system. Social support is provided to young workers who have arrived in rural areas. In 2024, 63 young specialists from the local budget were paid lifting fees totaling 407 million tenge. 106 more people received lifting allowances and budget loans under the program "With a diploma – to the village!". 203 office apartments were given to young doctors in the region," Bibigul Tulegenova, head of the health department, reported at a staff meeting.
Next year, it is planned to commission a medical home in the Nurinsky district. In Karaganda, a 1-hectare plot of land has been allocated in the Zhana Kala microdistrict for the construction of a residential complex for medical workers.
The result is also shown by the training of specialists in residency at the expense of the local budget. Currently, 200 people are studying. This helps to meet the needs of specialized specialists.
In addition, the budget funds the advanced training of doctors abroad. This year 106 doctors have interned in Germany, Finland, Russia, Spain in such areas as pediatric neurosurgery, cardiology and cardiac surgery, stroke centers, anesthesiology – intensive care, neurosurgery in oncology, etc. This allowed the introduction of new types of high-tech medical care.
Medical classes in schools help to increase interest in the profession. They operate in 94 urban and rural educational institutions.
– Within the framework of the program for the training of medical specialists, as well as in order to provide social support, 20 grants from the akim of the Karaganda region for bachelor's degree will be allocated for the first time in 2025, – Bibigul Tulegenova said.
Akim of the region Yermaganbet Bulekpayev gave instructions to continue supporting young professionals.
– We are seeing results, but the shortage of medical specialists remains. To resolve this issue, take all necessary measures. To work out the competition procedure for the provision of educational grants to bachelor's degree programs," said the head of the region.
15,710 people work in the healthcare sector of the Karaganda region.
