Last year, Turkestan City Central Hospital made a significant breakthrough in the field of regional medicine, for the first time starting to perform one of the most modern high–tech operations in otorhinolaryngology - cochlear implantation. This project has not only strengthened the hospital's status as a center for high-tech medical care, but has also opened up new opportunities for patients with severe hearing impairments.
From July 2023 to November 2024, 26 operations were successfully performed in the hospital. The initiative started in July last year with three cochlear implants as part of master classes with professors from Turkey. And in the period from November 29 to November 30 of this year, a new hospital record was set – 16 operations were performed in two days. During the interventions, implants from the world's leading manufacturers were used, and all operations were performed free of charge as part of compulsory social health insurance.
Thanks to the international exchange of experience and the introduction of sophisticated technologies, the qualifications of Turkestan doctors have improved. In particular, professors from Turkey, Recep Karamert and Ayshe Pelin Igider, shared their knowledge and practical experience with local specialists.
The hospital's management plans to increase the number of operations annually, develop rehabilitation programs for patients who have undergone cochlear implantation, expand cooperation with foreign clinics, and increase the number of training seminars and workshops.
It should be noted that until 2023, such operations were performed only in advanced clinics in Astana and Almaty. Thanks to the support of the Turkestan Region Health Department, cooperation with world experts and the development of the material and technical base, Turkestan City Central Hospital became the first medical institution in the region to provide this service to local residents.
