In order to provide the city of Zhezkazgan with a high-quality underground water source, the first stage of the Uytas-Aidos project has been successfully completed. As a result, currently 30% of the water supplied to residents of the regional center is from underground sources. Today, Akim of the region Dastan Ryspekov monitored the progress of the work.
As part of the first stage of the project, a pump was updated at the Uytas-Aidos water intake, as well as a pipeline with a diameter of 800 mm and a length of 51 kilometers was replaced. Commissioning works are currently underway at the drinking water treatment plant in Zhezkazgan.
It should be noted that the project consists of three stages. Financing for the second stage has already been allocated, and its implementation will begin next year. On behalf of the Head of State, the initiative, which started in 2022, will last until 2027.
Akim of the Ulytau region instructed to connect 70% of the population of Zhezkazgan to underground water sources by the end of 2026 and bring this figure to 100% by the end of 2027, emphasizing the need for strict control over the implementation of the project. The head of the region also noted that the phased implementation of the project will reduce dependence on surface water sources by providing access to completely clean drinking water.
"I am instructing you to start the second stage in a timely manner next year, ensure its high-quality implementation and complete it by the end of 2026. It is necessary to consider financing options for the third stage now and keep the implementation of the project under strict control," said the head of the region.
