On December twenty-third, Vasily Shipilev, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, crossed the age-old milestone.
The servicemen of the Department for Defense Affairs of the Almaly district of Almaty congratulated the centenarian on his birthday.
Vasily Fomich was born on December 23, 1923 in the village of Karpovo, Altai Territory. He graduated from the school of junior aviation specialists, where he mastered the professions of air gunner and radio operator.
He began his military career in April 1944 in the reconnaissance regiment of the Separate Primorsky Army. Then he was appointed head of the radio reception center on the III Belorussian Front.
Vasily Fomich's military achievements were awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, medals "For Military Merit", "For the Capture of Konigsberg", "For the Victory over Germany" and other commemorative awards.
Vasily Shipilev was discharged from the reserve in January 1950. In peacetime, he worked as an elevator operator at the Almaty flour and grain mill.
On a special day for Vasily Fomich, the military personnel of the Almaly district UDO and representatives of the Council of Veterans of the Armed Forces presented him with a congratulatory address and gifts. They thanked the experienced soldier for his courage and wished him good health and well-being.
Despite the difficult memories of the war, the veteran remained optimistic and cheerful. He thanked them for their attention and wished the servicemen success in their service.
