Deputy Akim of the region Nurbol Turashbekov visited Zhetysai district as part of a working trip and got acquainted with the construction of vertical drainage wells performed by Kiikbai Stroy Service LLP.
In an area where the main source of income is directly linked to the agricultural sector, there has been a decrease in crop yields and quality over the past 10 years. This is due to the fact that out of 380 vertical drainage wells located in the district, 210 failed, which led to an increase in the groundwater level.
The Kiikbai Stroy Service company is engaged in the construction of 97 drains on a total area of 16,010 hectares, including 47 wells on 7,932 hectares in the rural district of Maktaly, 41 wells on 5,766 hectares in the rural district of Kyzylkum and 9 wells on 2,312 hectares in the rural district of Abai. Currently, 46 new vertical drainage wells have been drilled.
Another company, Art-Kurylys LLP, plans to install 113 drainage wells on 19,911 hectares of 35,921 hectares of irrigated land. At the moment, 95 wells have been drilled in the rural districts of Yntymak, Sh. Dildabekov and Zh. Eraliev.
Nurbol Abdisattaruli met with specialists, instructed to ensure the quality of projects implemented at the expense of public funds and comply with the production schedule.
Work on the restoration of 210 vertical drainage wells, which began in October last year by order of the Kazvodkhoz State Enterprise of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and at the expense of Islam Damu Bank, is planned to be fully completed by 2026. To date, 141 of 210 drainage wells have been restored.
