THE BEST PRACTICES OF KIDNEY DISEASE MANAGEMENT WERE DISCUSSED AT THE CONGRESS OF NEPHROLOGISTS IN ASTANA

The Central Asian Congress of Nephrologists, Dialysis Doctors and Transplantologists is taking place in Astana with the participation of leading experts from the Turkic world, Europe, the USA, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.
Kidney disease is a global public health problem affecting more than 750 million people worldwide.
"The rapid increase in the number of patients with impaired renal function in the population is not a highly specialized, but a general medical interdisciplinary problem with serious socio-economic consequences. The scientific program offers a wide range of modern research, recommendations of the best clinical practices, international and effective approaches in managing the incidence and rate of progression of chronic kidney disease," the Minister of Health noted in her welcoming speech to the forum participants.
The community of nephrologists attaches particular importance to the issues of increasing the alertness of primary health care physicians in the framework of early detection of chronic kidney disease (CKD), raising public awareness of renal pathologies, along with the increased relevance of screening, monitoring the condition of already identified patients and providing them with complex therapy in order to prevent the progression of the disease.
Taking into account the global trend in the development of nephrology in Kazakhstan, the updating and implementation of international standards of quality and level of medical care is being carried out. For early prevention of complications and dynamic follow-up, disease management programs have been introduced in Kazakhstan, including a number of examinations to detect early renal dysfunction.
In order to improve the medical care provided to patients with chronic kidney disease, the Ministry is taking the following measures:
- The Republican Center of Nephrology and regional Centers of Competence in Nephrology are being created at the clinical bases of higher medical educational institutions;
- updating of the formation of the waiting list is being carried out, taking into account the passport of the recipient and the donor;
- staff training is conducted in accordance with the updated educational program of the residency in the specialty "Nephrology";
- monitoring the quality of high-cost services for hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplantation.
The Congress discussed the most important interdisciplinary and coordinating aspects of the problems of chronic kidney disease, the analysis of the burden of socio–economic expenses of the healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan on dialysis and kidney transplantation, the formation of a scientific and educational platform and the introduction of innovative technologies for treatment and diagnosis of international level.
Authoritative scientists and practitioners from the European Renal Association, the Federal Republic of Germany, the United States, Great Britain, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan made presentations in the panel discussions of the forum.
The two-day Central Asian Congress of Nephrologists gathered in the capital about 400 leading specialists from near and far abroad.
