The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aidarbek Saparov, arrived in Turkestan region on a working visit and, together with the akim of the region, Darkhan Satybaldy, visited the districts where he met with local farmers. The Minister was presented with major projects that are being implemented in the city of Arys and the districts of Ordabasy and Shardara. The Governor of the region spoke about current projects, emphasizing the introduction of water-saving technologies and priority support for deep processing of agricultural products.
In the next five years, it is planned to introduce water-saving technologies on an area of 216 thousand hectares, covering 40% of irrigated lands. At the moment, such technologies have been implemented on 50 thousand hectares. To increase the availability of irrigation systems, three local enterprises such as BNK Group and Turan Su were launched. These enterprises will provide the region and neighboring regions with water-saving technologies.
100 thousand hectares of cotton are sown annually in the Turkestan region, from which more than 300 thousand tons of harvest are harvested. A cotton and textile cluster is being created in the region, including the cultivation of elite varieties of cotton and its deep processing. The implementation of the project will attract investments in the amount of 141 billion tenge and increase cotton yield by 2.5 times. 4,000 jobs will be created.
This year, thanks to the new method, the yield from 2 thousand hectares of cotton amounted to 60 quintals per hectare, which is 2.5 times higher than the average in the region. By 2027, it is planned to create nine cotton clusters, which will help eliminate dependence on fluctuations in cotton prices.
The Minister of Agriculture and the governor of the region also visited the city of Arys, where they discussed the prospects for the development of cotton farming. The Turkestan Agro-Industrial Complex of Cotton company is implementing a project involving investments in the amount of 4.3 billion tenge on 1,600 hectares, expecting a harvest of 9 thousand tons. The project provided permanent jobs for 40 people and seasonal employment for 120 residents. A modern drip irrigation system is used here and high-quality cotton varieties are grown.
The working visit continued in Shardara district, where the Minister noted the importance of switching to water-saving technologies and invited farmers to move in this direction, explaining government support measures. He positively assessed the cotton cluster of the region and its potential in the development of agriculture.
The Minister answered all the questions of farmers, saying that next year it is planned to increase the volume of preferential financing of agriculture to 900 billion tenge, of which the first 100 billion tenge will be available in December this year. To achieve the target of updating agricultural machinery to 8-10% per year, it is planned to allocate at least 200 billion tenge for leasing agricultural machinery.
Following the trip, the minister gave a number of instructions aimed at further improving the infrastructure of the agro-industrial complex of the Turkestan region.
Akim of the region Darkhan Satybaldy noted that the region supports the cleaning of canals and the development of the cotton cluster, while farmers must also fulfill their obligations qualitatively. He stressed that the problem of water shortage can be solved only through the introduction of water-saving technologies, and noted the importance of observing tax discipline and maintaining the cleanliness of the region. The farmers made their suggestions, which were taken under control.
During the working trip, the Minister also got acquainted with the success of the Adela farm in Ordabasi district. One of the largest greenhouses in the country produces 6,000 tons of vegetables per year on an area of 16 hectares. The Minister noted the high potential of the region in greenhouse production and stressed the need for further development of this industry.
