The grand opening of the XX International Competition of performers "Astana-Merey" took place today at the Kazakh National University of Arts.
"Classical music is not just a set of sounds, it is a language that resonates in our hearts, evokes emotions and inspires new achievements. These days we will hear the immortal works of great composers performed by young and talented musicians," said Acting Rector of KazNUI Raushan Nurtaza in her welcoming speech.
This year, 160 young performers from 13 regions of Kazakhstan participate in the Astana-Merey competition. Contestants aged 6 to 18 years old perform in the nominations: violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp, piano and piano ensemble. As part of the competition, all participants will have a chance to demonstrate their skills, and according to the results of the auditions, the jury members will determine the winners.
