The energy system of Kazakhstan demonstrates high stability and efficiency, despite the change in the time zone. The recent transition to a single time zone has not led to significant changes in electricity consumption schedules.
As you know, electricity consumption in the country is directly related to the daily rhythm of life of the population. Peak loads occur in the morning and evening hours, when consumption increases due to the activation of vital processes.
Previously, the transfer of time back by one hour did not cause any disruptions in the operation of the power system or restrictions for consumers.
An analysis of data for January-September 2023 and 2024 shows a steady increase in electricity consumption at the level of 4%. This growth is due to a natural increase in consumption of the population and the economy of the country as a whole, and not changes in time zones.
For example, consumption in the Western Zone of the EEC increased by 10.4% compared to the same period last year, where the transfer of administrative time back one hour was not carried out.
Thus, in general, the import of electric energy increased after the introduction of the mechanism of a Single buyer of electric energy, as it became possible to organize planned flows of electricity from neighboring countries in order to cover the deficit during peak hours and allowed for major repairs of all major power plants in the country in accordance with the planned repair periods.
