A modern expert-class device for a detailed study of lung functions – a bodyplethysmograph - has appeared in the consultative and diagnostic center of the regional clinical hospital in Karaganda. The examination can be performed free of charge within the framework of compulsory social health insurance, it is also necessary to have a referral from the attending physician.
The procedure is painless and practically contactless.
– The device detects functional disorders of the chest organs earlier than computed tomography. It is intended for a deeper study of lung functions, in particular, it shows gas exchange, if there are changes in lung tissues, gas diffusion, directly determining blood oxygen saturation. Any resident of the region can undergo an examination, but we mainly refer pulmonologist patients with interstitial lung diseases associated with occupational pathology, systemic diseases that affect the lungs, with severe obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma, pathology of the cardiovascular system, etc., - said Lyazzat Sholanova, head of the consultative and diagnostic polyclinic.
The bodyplethysmograph allows you to measure lung volume, identify airway obstruction and evaluate other indicators important for the diagnosis and control of diseases of the respiratory system.
Such a device is available only in two medical centers in Kazakhstan – in Karaganda and Astana.
