Shymkent is actively transforming and becoming more comfortable for life. As part of the public space improvement program, the Mayor's Office of the city opened three new squares in the Al-Farabi district of the megalopolis, providing citizens with new areas for recreation and walks. These projects are aimed at creating a comfortable urban environment and improving the quality of life of Shymkent residents.

A new square with an area of 0.2 hectares was opened in one of the densely populated areas of the city. The old fountain and bridge have been modernized here, the canal territory is completely fenced, and walking areas with benches, shade canopies and swings have been created. There is also a tennis table, decorative flowerpots, rocks and trash cans. Plane trees, shrubs and perennial flowers have been planted to create a cozy atmosphere.
"Shymkent should become comfortable and cozy for every resident,— said Akim of the city Gabit Syzdykbekov. "Such spaces allow families to spend time together and children to play outdoors."

The square with an area of 0.31 hectares is equipped with marble footpaths, green spaces and small architectural forms. There are game areas, chess and tennis tables, a photo zone, bicycle parking and a drinking fountain. Marble benches and pergolas create additional amenities for the rest of the townspeople.
"This square is an example of how you can turn a space into a place that inspires and promotes a healthy lifestyle," the mayor said.
Renovated park between Yesil and Kamal streets
A modern recreation area with an area of 0.5 hectares with a basketball court, workout areas and exercise equipment has been created on the site of the old park. About 4,000 square meters are planted with trees, shrubs and flowers, as well as benches, garbage cans, a drinking fountain and parking.
"It is important that in every district of the city there are places for recreation and outdoor sports," Gabit Syzdykbekov added. "We strive to make Shymkent a city of the future, comfortable and beautiful."
New squares have already become favorite places of recreation for citizens, who note that such initiatives make Shymkent more green, cozy and modern.
