The annual Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA) 2024 conference, which is a key event in the global aviation industry, was held in Washington, D.C. (USA) from November 5-7. Within the framework of the event, the prestigious ATCA Awards program was presented, traditionally celebrating outstanding achievements in the aviation field.
The ATCA Awards program covers three categories: air traffic services, industry and small business, and military merit. In total, the organizers presented 10 nominations. One of which is "The David J. Hurley Memorial Award for Aviation Traffic Management". She highlights the outstanding achievements in the field of air traffic services in the world. More than 40 countries have submitted an application to participate in the above-mentioned category.
Following the results of the annual ATCA conference, Kazaeronavigation RSE was recognized as the winner in the nomination "The David J. Hurley Memorial Award for Aviation Traffic Management". By the way, in 2023, representatives of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the USA became the best in this section.
Specialists of RSE "Kazaeronavigation" presented a project on the topic: "Research and development of dynamic sectorization for improved air traffic services in the area of responsibility of the Aktobe Regional Control Center." The authors of the scientific work are the leading specialists of the Department of Airspace Management of the Department of Air Traffic Management of the Kazaeronavigation RSE: Nursultan Tompiev, Asset Akhmetbayev and Madi Asylkhanov.
Dynamic sectorization makes it possible to optimize the airspace, reduce the load on air traffic controllers and increase the capacity in the airspace of the flight information area. The project applied a scientific approach to the temporary separation of the airspace of the Aktobe flight information area using the Voronoi diagram method. The successful implementation of this project will make it possible to apply this methodology in subsequent implementations of dynamic sectorization in other areas of responsibility in the airspace of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Kazaeronavigation RSE specialists are the first in Kazakhstan to be awarded the prestigious ATCA International Award. This is another important step in the development of the country's aviation industry and strengthening its position in the international arena.
