In Shymkent, 189 units of special equipment have been prepared for the winter season this year, which is 34 more than last year. At that time, 155 units were involved in snow removal work. In addition, about 2,000 employees of contractors are involved in cleaning the central streets.
To date, there are 443 main streets in the metropolis with a total length of 891 km. Sanitary and mechanical cleaning of these streets is provided by five contractors within the framework of a public-private partnership.
It should be noted that in the upcoming winter period in all five districts of Shymkent, work on cleaning streets from snow will be carried out in several shifts. For example, in the Abai district they are organized in eight directions. 37 units of special equipment will be used to clear 80 highways with a total length of 357.2 km.
In the Al-Farabi district, harvesting will be organized in five directions. 39 units of specialized equipment are planned to be used to clean 109 main streets with a total length of 147.4 km. In addition, snow removal works will be carried out in five directions in the Yenbekshi district. 38 units of special equipment are going to be used to clean 83 main streets with a total length of 221.6 km.
In the Turan district, the work will be carried out in six directions. 36 units of special equipment are planned to be used to clean 111 main streets with a total length of 203.3 km. In the Karatau district, on an area of 181.1 km, snow removal works are organized in five directions. 39 units of special equipment will be used to clean 83 streets.
At the same time, in winter, the places for snow removal are coordinated with the akimats of the districts. Special vacant land plots are being created for this purpose. To prevent icing of roads and sidewalks in winter, utilities have prepared a significant supply of inert materials. In particular, about 24,800 cubic meters of sand, as well as 13,200 tons of salt. This year, the inert materials were purchased from a public-private partner under an additional contract.
