On February 10, 2025, the XIII Winter Gymnasium will begin among students. About 700 students aged 12-18 from all regions of the country will participate in the sports event, the press service of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports, citing the National Scientific and Practical Center for Physical Education.

Eight sports will be held at the gymnasium - cross-country skiing, winter presidential competition, biathlon, winter sports orienteering, short track, bandy (ball hockey), ice hockey and figure skating. A total of 162 medals and 15 cups will be up for grabs.

"In his September Address to the Nation, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about raising a healthy nation. For this, it is necessary to develop mass and children's sports in our country. "The Gymnasium is not just a competition, but a competition aimed at identifying real talents, promoting sports among children and forming a new generation of athletes," noted Arman Tashmetov, Director General of the National Scientific and Practical Center for Physical Education of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The XIII Winter Gymnasium of Kazakh students will continue in the West Kazakhstan region, in the cities of Uralsk and Aksai, until April.
