At the IX Winter Asian Games in Harbin, the men's short track speed skating team won the 5000-meter relay race, bringing Kazakhstan its first gold medal. This prize is the first gold in the history of short track speed skating at the Winter Asian Games in Kazakhstan.
The Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan congratulated the Kazakh team on its first gold medal at the IX Winter Asian Games, noting the significance of this victory for the country's sports:
"I sincerely congratulate the Kazakh national short track speed skating team on its historic victory! Today, our compatriots brought joy and happiness to all the fans, bringing the first gold medal to the country's basket. Our anthem is playing in the Chinese capital, and our blue flag is flying high. This award is of great importance to us. After all, this is the first gold medal won by Kazakhstan at the Winter Asian Games in the history of short track sports. I would also like to express my special gratitude to the coaching staff who worked hard on the path to victory. "
