Akim of the East Kazakhstan region Yermek Kosherbayev got acquainted with the progress of flood prevention measures in the Altai district. Despite the heavy snowfall in the region this year, the level of soil freezing is much lower than last year. This, in turn, reduces the risk of flooding.
Experts have identified 19 locations for blasting operations on rivers in the region to ensure unhindered water flow.
- It is necessary to develop an action algorithm for each settlement and area at risk of flooding. It is necessary to know in advance where ice will form, where people need to be evacuated, what forces and means are needed, and whether there are villages, roads and bridges at risk of flooding. Akims at all levels need to know the answers to these questions and conduct explanatory work with residents on clearing private yards of snow. It is also necessary to help them, - said Yermek Kosherbayev.
It should be noted that since February 1, an operational headquarters using artificial intelligence has been created in the region. They will predict various scenarios based on hydro and meteorological service data and information from previous years.
