In the remote border Alakol district of the Zhetysu region, a centralized drinking water system has been connected to 48 of the 56 settlements, or 85.7%. For example, this year, a drinking water network will be connected to the village of Lepsi. In addition, this year, the construction of a water system in the village of Konyr and the 2nd stage of modernization in the village of Terekty are expected to begin, - the press service of the akim of the Zhetysu region reports.
According to the regional department of energy and housing and communal services, the drinking water system in the village of Lepsi, built in the 1980s, is no longer in use.
"Design and estimate documentation has been developed for the centralized water supply of the village of Lepsi. The project provides for the construction of 49.4 km of water supply lines, 2 pumping stations and 2 reservoirs, as well as a transformer substation and a diesel power plant. Today, a contractor has been identified. Construction and installation work is planned to begin in April, taking into account the weather conditions in the region," the department said in a statement.
Notably, in the Alakol district, last year, the village of Bibakan was connected to the central drinking water system, while the villages of Terekty, Koktuma, and Ekpindy were modernized. Similarly, construction and installation work has been completed in the village of Tokzhailau, and work is currently underway to test and commission the water system.
In general, by the end of 2025, the number of settlements in the Zhetysu region with centralized water supply will reach 331, or the level of coverage by the central water system will be 92.5%.
