By October 1, Uzbekistan will send 16 billion cubic meters of water to Kazakhstan. This is 1 billion more than last year. Nurzhan Nurzhigitov reached an agreement with the Minister of Water Resources of Uzbekistan Shavkat Khamraev on this.

Nurzhan Nurzhigitov met with residents of the Turkestan region and visited major water management facilities in the region. Residents of the Turkestan region asked the minister questions about the reconstruction of irrigation and drainage systems, the condition of individual hydraulic structures, the distribution of irrigation water and subsidies to farmers.

This year, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation plans to organize advanced training courses for the retraining of about a thousand water management specialists. In particular, the ministry has reached an agreement with the Chinese company Power China to conduct advanced training courses for Kazakhstani specialists in China.

Last year, Kazakhstani farmers introduced water-saving technologies to 158 thousand hectares of land. In particular, sprinkler irrigation systems that simulate natural rainfall were introduced to 56 thousand hectares of arable land, and drip irrigation systems that deliver water directly to the roots of plants were introduced to 44 thousand hectares.
