From February 7 to 20, A. The Pushkin Library will host an exhibition entitled “Painting and Dance Art – From the History of Shymkent”.
The exhibition will present the work of artist Grigory Ponomarenko and ballet dancer, teacher Ulan Mirseidov, whose lives are closely connected with the city of Shymkent.
The exhibition will present works by artist Grigory Ponomarenko in the main genres from the post-war period to the last Soviet period. His paintings depict the formation of Southern Kazakhstan in the 1950s-1990s with great love, skill, and historical authenticity.
Ulan Mirseidov (1952–2013), a native of Shymkent, is an outstanding teacher who opened the way for Kazakhstani students and ballet dancers to international competitions. Ulan Mirseidov is called the “teacher of champions”, because his students were the first to win prizes in the international arena, and the Kazakh ballet school was recognized by the world ballet community. Ulan Mirseidov has shaped the style of men's classical dance in Kazakhstan for many years.
The exhibition is held with the support of the Shymkent city administration, the "Museum of Fine Arts" of the Turkestan region's Department of Culture, the A. Pushkin Library, the Kazakh women's association "QazElles" in France, the "MPL" company, and private collectors.
