As part of the preparation for the flood-prone period, Vice-Minister of Emergency Situations Kegen Tursynbayev inspected the metropolitan agglomeration located in the Akmola region.
During the working trip, he visited Arshaly and Tselinograd districts, visited the main hydraulic structures and assessed the level of preparedness for possible floods. In particular, in the 7th microdistrict of Zhibek Zholy village, he inspected the Astana reservoir, water supply structures, as well as the construction of a protective earth embankment. Every year, this settlement is threatened by flooding, so additional protective measures are being taken.
In addition, the Vice Minister inspected the progress of engineering work in the village of Taitobe and the city of Kosshy, and also inspected engineering structures in a number of settlements of the Tselinograd district.
"Anti-flood measures require timely and coordinated work of all services. The main task is to minimize risks for the population and infrastructure. It is important that all necessary engineering structures are ready for possible flooding, and emergency services are ready for a quick response. We will continue to monitor the situation and coordinate actions in local areas," Kegen Tursynbayev noted.
The head of the Akmola region's Emergency Situations Department, Bakytzhan Alashov, reported on the readiness of forces and equipment for the upcoming flood threat period. In turn, the akims of Tselinograd, Arshaly districts and the city of Kosshy provided information on the work done to prevent flooding.
