On February 10, the first meeting of the Council for the Development of Nuclear Physics was held in Astana, where the implementation of the industry development program until 2030 began. The main directions are the creation of a modern system for the production of radiopharmaceuticals and the expansion of the use of nuclear technologies in medicine.
The participants of the meeting - representatives of ministries, parliament and the scientific community - discussed the prospects for the development of nuclear medicine in Kazakhstan. The topic was the modernization of infrastructure, the introduction of innovative methods of diagnostics and treatment, primarily the treatment of oncological diseases, training personnel and improving the regulatory framework.
“Today we are faced with complex tasks: it is necessary to create a stable system for the production of radiopharmaceuticals and develop the infrastructure of nuclear medicine. "To solve these problems, coordinated efforts of the state, science and business are needed, so that Kazakhstanis have access to the most modern methods of diagnostics and treatment," said the Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev.
Vice Minister of Health Ardak Amangeldiev said that the development of nuclear medicine is of strategic importance for the entire healthcare system: "Together with the Ministry of Energy, a Roadmap has been developed until 2030. It will allow us to introduce advanced technologies, increase the production of domestic radiopharmaceuticals, and make accurate diagnostic methods available to citizens."
Deputy of the Senate Ainur Argynbekova, speaking about the interdisciplinary nature of the development of nuclear medicine, noted that the important factors for success are not only increasing the production of radiopharmaceuticals and improving legislation, but also training qualified personnel.
Sayabek Sakhiev, Director General of the Institute of Nuclear Physics, said that the institute is actively participating in this process, developing and introducing new technologies in the field of radiopharmaceuticals. According to him, expanding production capacity and improving the research base will become key factors in the development of nuclear medicine in Kazakhstan.
