New temporary fences that meet modern metro safety standards have been installed at the Raimbek Batyr station. They perform two main functions: they serve as a means of protection for passengers and are used as an advertising structure.
Currently, these fences are being tested for their resistance to wind loads. After passing all the necessary tests, such fences will be installed at other metro stations. In addition, representatives of the metro noted that previously installed iron fences are also being checked and, if necessary, they will be removed.
"Almaty metro is always striving to improve infrastructure for the comfort of passengers. This decision is a temporary measure until automated platform doors (screen doors) are installed. All work is being carried out at the expense of the enterprise itself, without involving budget funds," the press service of the metro reported.
It should be noted that temporary fences are a temporary solution designed to close the space between cars and are aimed at increasing passenger safety. The process of installing automated platform doors (screen doors) is time-consuming, as it requires design, preparation of a feasibility study, financing and public procurement procedures. In this regard, temporary fences are being installed to ensure the safety of passengers.
