Last year, 1,318 disabled people were employed in the Karaganda region. Assistance was also provided to those wishing to open their own business: 63 grants were awarded, including to parents of children with special needs. This year, it is planned to move forward, using all state support measures and regional programs.
Increasing the quota for enterprises to employ people with disabilities, opening new special jobs, continuing training in popular specialties - these are the tasks set by the head of the region, Yermaganbet Bulekpayev.
The work done and future plans were discussed at the meeting.
Asem Zhunuspekova, Deputy Head of the Department for Coordination of Employment and Social Programs, spoke about all possible ways to employ people with disabilities. She gave specific examples of what jobs applicants have found in the regional career centers under the "Silver Youth" and "First Job" programs.
A 62-year-old resident of the Karagayly village of the Osakarov district was placed on a farm as an engineer-mechanic. A resident of the Zhanakurylys village of the Nura district got a job as a welder. In Saran, enterprises need workers: one of the applicants is currently working as a car mechanic, the other as a metal structure installer.
Neither disability group nor age was an obstacle to hiring. Let us remind you that under a number of projects, the state reimburses the employer for part of the employee's salary.
Last year, 13 special jobs were created for people with disabilities. Entrepreneurs hired people with hearing impairments and poor eyesight. And the state provided subsidies for the arrangement of workplaces and salaries.
A special project is underway in the region to train people with disabilities and their caregivers in IT specialties. 110 people are taking free courses. Some of them have job prospects: they are currently practicing in software development companies.
In addition, new specialties can be taught free of charge in short-term courses under the Jumys Tap social project, and the basics of entrepreneurship - under the Bastau Business project.
This year, the Altyn Jas project was launched in the region to employ pensioners. It can also be used by people with disabilities.
A job fair is held regularly, where those who are interested are offered decent work. Ten Qogam centers have been opened, one of the directions of which is the employment of people with disabilities.
- The issue of employment of people with disabilities is one of the priorities of social policy in our region. It is necessary to use all opportunities and help those who are interested in working, - noted Ermaganbet Bolekpayev.
More than 55 thousand disabled people live in the Karaganda region, about half of whom are people of working age. About 11 thousand people work.
