Akmola athlete Vadim Kurales won another silver medal in the biathlon sprint competition at the IX Winter Asian Games.
The governor of the Akmola region congratulated the athlete on his victory.
"We congratulate Vadim Vadimovich, the coaching staff and all biathlon fans. Your perseverance, professionalism and desire to win inspire fans and those interested in biathlon. We wish you new victories, stable results and bright successes in international competitions,” the congratulatory message reads.
It should be noted that at the IX Asian Winter Games, athletes from Akmola won a total of 11 medals.
On February 8, Nikisha Denis and Zhaksybayev Mersaid, Khan Yana and Tikhonova Olga won silver medals in the 2000-meter medley relay in short track. Konstantin Bortsov took second place in the classic style skiing competition.
On February 9, our compatriots Khan Yana and Tikhonova Olga took second place in the women's 3000-meter relay, while Nikisha Denis and Zhaksybayev Mersaid won a historic gold medal for our country in the 5000-meter relay. This is the first gold medal for the Kazakhstani team at these games.
On February 10, Olzhas Klimin won a bronze medal in the 10 km cross-country skiing race.
Thus, athletes from the Akmola region have added 1 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze medal to the national team's medal basket.
In total, 14 athletes from the Akmola region are participating in the Kazakhstani team.
