Kazakhstan discussed the rules of the film project selection competition
15.02.2025 00:01:03 517Today, February 11, in Astana, the Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva held a meeting with the new composition of the Expert Council under the National Cinema Support Center.
This year, the composition of the Expert Council under the National Cinema Support Center was renewed. It included specialists in the fields of cinema, literature, culture, as well as deputies of the Majilis.
The main topic of the meeting was to discuss the rules for the competitive selection of film projects.
The Minister spoke in detail about the activities of the National Cinema Support Center. He noted that the members of the Expert Council are entrusted with great responsibility. It is also worth noting that the changes to the rules of the selection competition adopted last year are aimed at making the selection more open and easy.
According to the new rules, the selection is divided into two stages. This change will give a new impetus to the development of cinema in Kazakhstan.
At the first stage, the Expert Council will evaluate only scripts and script plans. After successfully passing the first stage, the authors of the selected scripts must submit a full package of documents at the second stage. After submitting the necessary documents, candidates are given three days to correct the errors identified. After the acceptance of documents is completed, an application is sent for consideration by the Central Expert Council. Then the pitching date is set.
“The members of the Council must feel a deep sense of responsibility, make fair decisions at all stages of the competition, and hold an open competition. Emphasis is placed on ensuring that film projects meet the established requirements. These measures will help develop the domestic film industry, as well as increase the number of projects that meet national interests and ideology,” Aida Balayeva noted.
In 2025, film projects can be prepared on priority topics such as “national values”, “family”, “environmental protection”, “law and order”, “historical significant events”, “friendship”, “women's rights, child safety”, “heroes of modern times”, “national unity”, etc. In 2025, 10 new films will be released with the support of the Ministry and the National Cinema Support Center. This year, the films "Captain Baytasov", the drama "Igromanka" about gambling, the sports drama "90+1" about football, as well as the films "Autumn Wind", "Fake Dream", "Qaitadan", "Dung", "Black Girl", "Altyn Adam", "Sweet Heart" and "Abel" will be released.
