In 2024, 115 sports facilities were put into operation in Zhambyl region. Among them, there are 9 physical education and health complexes, 3 sports complexes and 103 sports grounds. This was announced at the staff meeting chaired by the akim of Zhambyl region, Yerbol Karashukeyev.

The meeting discussed the work done in the field of sports and future goals and objectives.

According to the head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Yernar Ibraimov, in 2024, the construction of 15 physical education and health complexes was carried out. 9 of them were put into operation, and the remaining 6 sports facilities will be handed over this year.
In addition, 103 sports grounds were put into operation in the city of Taraz and districts. Sports complexes were opened in 3 rural settlements at the expense of sponsors.
As a result, the level of provision of the population of the region with sports infrastructure amounted to 68.3 percent.
In total, there are 2,353 sports facilities in the region.
This year, the construction of 8 new sports complexes is expected to gain momentum.
Last year, 15.8 billion tenge was allocated for sports expenses, while this year 17.6 billion tenge is planned.
This year, 460.9 million tenge will be allocated for the development of mass sports. tenge is spent.
Today, 1,195 coaches are working regularly with 28,872 athletes.
6,871 children (aged 5-17) in 18 sports participate in sports sections free of charge.

In order to give a new impetus to the development of mass sports, to get the population fit and to engage in sports systematically, 285 sports instructors work in the region.
As a result of 2024, 4,034 sports events were organized, covering 363 thousand Zhambyl residents.
503 thousand people or 41.2 percent of the region's population are engaged in sports systematically.
1,797 athletes of the region won medals (gold - 658, silver - 570, bronze - 569).
At the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris, Eldos Smetov became the champion in judo, while at the XVII Summer At the Paralympic Games, Nurdaulet Zhumagali won a silver medal in para swimming.
At the V World Nomad Games, 17 Zhambyl athletes defended the honor of the country in eight sports. As a result, 7 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze medals were won.
Also, in his report, the head of the department extensively touched upon the issues of supporting athletes and coaches, achieving high results in flag competitions, increasing competitiveness, developing Olympic and national sports, and rational use of budget funds.
The regional akim paid attention to the development of mass sports and instructed to intensify work to further increase the number of people involved in sports and the level of provision of the population with sports infrastructure. Sports facilities should be convenient and accessible to the population.
Erbol Karashukeyev paid special attention to the condition of sports facilities in the region. He instructed the Department of Physical Culture and Sports to systematically study the existing and under-construction sports facilities, to eliminate the identified shortcomings, and to immediately strengthen preparations for the Olympic and Paralympic Games to be held in 2028.
During the meeting, reports were heard from the akims of Taraz and the district on the development of the sports sector.
The implementation of the instructions given by the regional akim during a meeting with the people of Shu district and a personal reception was also reviewed.
