In Almaty, on the instructions of the city akim, a “Plan for the development of the city's heat supply for the period up to 2030 with a perspective until 2040” was developed. This was reported by the acting head of the Almaty Energy Department Nurbakhyt Serikbay at the extraordinary XXVII session of the Maslikhat.
The document provides for the modernization and reconstruction of heating networks, the replacement of outdated technologies and equipment, as well as the construction of new boiler houses in promising construction areas.
When developing the project, a forecast was implemented that will allow for the rational allocation of resources for the coming decades and guarantee the stability of heat supply in the long term.
It should be noted that today the share of heating networks in Almaty that have been in operation for more than 25 years is increasing due to the transfer of ownerless networks to the city's balance sheet. By annually renewing 39 km of pipelines, it is planned to reduce the level of wear of networks to more than 20% by 2040.
The modernization includes the introduction of new technologies and solutions that will significantly reduce the risk of accidents and improve the quality of services provided.
It is also planned to replace old pipes with remote-controlled insulated pipes, which will reduce heat loss and maintenance costs. Also, outdated fittings will be replaced with modern ball valves.
“The measures taken will increase the reliability of heat supply, ensure uninterrupted heat supply to new consumers, and reduce operating costs,” Nurbakhyt Serikbay concluded.
