In the Karaganda region, the amount of funding for the rehabilitation of children with paralysis is increasing every year. Since 2020, such assistance has been provided within the framework of compulsory social medical insurance. Thanks to this, new rehabilitation centers, departments and offices are opening in the region under medical organizations.
Rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy is one of the most popular measures in the compulsory social medical insurance package. Rehabilitation of children was carried out within the framework of free assistance even before the introduction of the medical insurance system, but due to lack of funding, it was not provided on such a large scale as it is now.
A modern rehabilitation center for children under three years of age was opened in the Multidisciplinary Regional Children's Clinical Hospital in 2023. The 3rd stage of rehabilitation for children with paralysis, as well as post-stroke defects, muscular dystrophy and other lesions of the central nervous system will be carried out here.
— In 2024, we opened a second rehabilitation center for children aged 3–18. Last year alone, more than 1,300 children underwent rehabilitation under the Social Insurance Institution. The center has good equipment and modern devices purchased with the support of the Kamkorlyk corporate fund. Rehabilitologists, neurologists, speech therapists, psychologists, and defectologists work there, — says the head of the rehabilitation center Nina Derkach.
— My daughter's name is Maryam. She is 3 years old. We first applied to the rehabilitation center in early 2024. After the first course, the results were immediately noticeable. The second time we went 3 months later. She was diagnosed with paralysis of the legs. Now we are undergoing the third rehabilitation course. Everything is free. In addition to treating her legs, the child is engaged in speech therapy. Now my daughter stands firmly on her feet. This is a great achievement, — says the girl's mother.
— Like receiving any type of planned medical care, in order to undergo rehabilitation, you need to contact the district doctor at the polyclinic at the place of registration. Then the patient is sent for a consultation to us, a rehabilitation doctor, or a multidisciplinary team of specialists. We study the applicant's condition, assess the need and effectiveness of the planned rehabilitation, and also form an initial rehabilitation diagnosis and determine a recovery plan, — noted Nina Derkach.
