Karaganda residents presented several creative houses at the City of Working Professions in Astana

The five-day “City of Working Professions” festival organized by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan has begun in Astana. This is the first and largest event in the field of technical and vocational education to officially open the Year of Working Professions. Three leading colleges from the Karaganda region will participate in it. They will present creative houses of metallurgists, power engineers, stone and tile masons, where young visitors can try themselves in working professions in an interactive format.
Eight thematic streets have been opened on the territory of the improvised City of Working Professions, and 40 creative houses are presented.
Temirtau Higher Polytechnic College, together with its social partner Qarmet, has installed a house of ferrous metallurgy on the street of miners and metallurgists.
– We brought with us the equipment purchased under the “Young Specialist” project: simulators, metallographic microscopes, etc. Visitors will see the equipment of a blast furnace and a converter steelmaker on mannequins. Their special clothes and shoes are made of materials resistant to high temperatures. We will show the general working process of metallurgists. We have prepared master classes, - said Saltanat Akbergenova, director of the Temirtau Higher Polytechnic College.
There is a house of precious metals on this street. She presented it together with her social partners, subsoil use companies, and the Karaganda Higher Polytechnic College. Visitors can train on simulators of a drilling rig and loader.
And on the street of energy workers and oil workers, this educational institution has built a house of electricians. According to Zhanar Rakhimova, the director of the Karaganda Higher Polytechnic College, the master classes will provide detailed information about energy, from simple to complex.
The Karaganda Technical and Construction College presented the house of stonemasons and tilers on the street of builders.
- Students will demonstrate bricklaying and tile cladding with building materials on stone-cutting and tile-cutting machines. In the interactive zone, we will hold bricklaying competitions among students throughout the five days of the festival, - said the college director Asel Saparova.
From February 11 to 15, the republican festival "City of Working Professions" is being held in Astana at the EXPO International Exhibition Center (Mangilik El Avenue, 53/1). You can visit at any convenient time from 10:00 to 18:30. Admission is free.
