During a meeting with residents of the Zhetysu district, Almaty Mayor Yerbolat Dossayev spoke about the development of social infrastructure.
According to the city mayor, in order to reduce the shortage of student places, taking into account the growth of the district's population, work is being systematically carried out on the construction and reconstruction of schools and kindergartens.
It should be noted that today the district lacks 3.3 thousand student places. To solve this problem, an additional building for 200 places was built for school No. 103 in September 2024.
As part of the “Cozy School” national project, the construction of a new school for 1,200 places continues on Boraldai Street. Its opening is scheduled for September 2025,” said Yerbolat Dossaev.
In addition, the development of a technical specifications for the construction of an additional building for 280 places for school No. 43 began in July 2024. After receiving the results of the state expertise, construction work will begin in August this year. The facility is planned to be completed in July 2026.
The construction of an additional building for 300 places for school No. 112 was previously suspended due to the failure of “SheberBuild” LLP to fulfill its contractual obligations. In March 2024, a new contractor was identified and construction resumed. The completion of the additional construction is planned before the start of the new academic year.
After the completion of the additional building, the reconstruction of the main school building will begin.
Thanks to the measures being taken, the transition of Almaty schools to a single-shift education system continues. In the next academic year, 43 out of more than 200 state schools will switch to a single-shift education system (an increase of 12.5% ​​to 18.4%).
Special attention is paid to the development of school infrastructure. Last year, 168 new-type subject classrooms were purchased for 89 schools, which increased the share of modernly equipped classrooms to 86.3%.
In addition, in order to reduce the shortage of places in preschool organizations in the Zhetysu district, a new kindergarten for 160 places was opened last year in the Ainabulak microdistrict. In August of this year, work will begin on the reconstruction of the building of kindergarten No. 163 for 380 places and the reconstruction of the building purchased for a kindergarten for 280 places at Ratushny Street, 139.
Construction and installation work will be completed in the second quarter of 2026.
