The Military College named after the Hero of the Soviet Union Sabyr Rakhimov organized a number of events dedicated to the 123rd anniversary of the birth of the legendary general.
The event was attended by the personnel of the educational institution, the military-technical school, and representatives of veterans' organizations.
The head of the military college, Colonel Maksat Akhshalov, noted the outstanding achievements of Sabyr Rakhimov. In order for the name of the first Kazakh general to remain in our memory forever, educational institutions, streets, and schools were named after him, and monuments to the hero were erected.
Events were also held in the village of Kokibeli, Kazygurt district, Turkestan region, where Sabyr Rakhimov was born. A literary and musical evening was held at the secondary school named after him. Students read their own poems and presented a theatrical performance depicting important moments in Sabyr Rakhimov's military career.
Recall that Sabyr Rakhimov served in the Turkestan Military District and was awarded the Order of the Red Star. During the Great Patriotic War, he participated in battles in the Caucasus, Belarus, and the Rostov region. In 1943, he received the rank of major general for his military valor. In March 1945, he was killed in battle near Gdansk. In 1965, Sabyr Rakhimov was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for his valor and heroism.
