The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan continues to develop the updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0) until 2035, in line with the country’s commitments under the Paris Agreement. The development of NDC 3.0 is a crucial step towards sustainable development and achieving national climate goals.
Today, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan held a meeting with representatives of international organizations and the expert community to discuss key aspects of shaping NDC 3.0. The discussion was attended by representatives of NDCP, UNDP, UNITAR, UNICEF, FAO, GIZ, and CCAС, who will provide expert and technical support in drafting the document.
The meeting focused on integrating international experience, coordinating actions between national and international experts, and implementing modern analytical tools. Specifically, the development of NDC 3.0 will be based on the LEAP (Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning System) model, which will enable a detailed analysis of Kazakhstan’s low-carbon development scenarios and the formulation of the most effective measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The Ministry emphasized that the development process of NDC 3.0 will be carried out in close collaboration with key stakeholders, including government agencies, the business community, the scientific sector, and civil society. This approach will ensure transparency and alignment with national sustainable development priorities.
