Deputy Prime Minister Serik Jumangarin held talks with Shahin Abbaso, Vice President of the Turkish company Alarko Holding.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the implementation of a large-scale investment project for the cultivation of tomatoes worth $ 650 million. A greenhouse complex, as well as a workshop for processing grown products, is planned to be built in Shymkent by the end of 2025 in two stages. At the first stage – 45 hectares, at the second – 130 hectares. When reaching full capacity, the complex will start producing 51 thousand tons of products per year. Sales markets are domestic and for export to the Russian Federation, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. About 2 thousand jobs will be created at the enterprise.
The company also plans to open a plant in Shymkent for the production of structures for greenhouses, which will reduce the construction time. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to create a specialized academy for the training of agricultural specialists according to international standards.
The parties discussed the draft and terms of the investment agreement, which provides for measures of state support for the implementation of the investment project.
Serik Zhumangarin stressed that the investor will receive comprehensive support, and also suggested considering the possibility of establishing production in other priority sectors of agriculture, including deep processing of cereals, sugar beet, and hides.
