Akim of Ulytau region Dastan Ryspekov met with representatives of a higher educational institution from Canada. The purpose of the delegation's visit is to establish an international technical university in the region.
The event was attended by project manager Maksutbek Aitmaganbet, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP Nurakhmet Nuriyev and representatives of the public foundation "The Ulytau Educational Foundation". The head of the region noted that the implementation of the university's project will diversify the economy of the Ulytau region and will have a positive impact on solving the personnel issue.
"It is planned that the new university will train personnel in the fields of mining and metallurgy, IT, engineering technologies, ecology and others, offering international and double-degree programs," said Akim of Ulytau region Dastan Ryspekov.
The Technical University project is an opportunity not only to share experiences with leading Canadian educational institutions, but also to provide students with practical training at the enterprises of the Kazakhmys Corporation. At the same time, trilateral cooperation will be established.
During the meeting, various options for future partnership were discussed, as well as solutions aimed at the early implementation of the project.
It should be noted that at present, the akimat of the region has allocated a land plot with a total area of 20 hectares for the construction of a technical university in Zhezkazgan, established its boundaries and received a cadastral passport for the property. It is expected that the construction itself will begin in 2026, and commissioning in 2028.
