At a meeting of the Interdepartmental Anti-Drug Headquarters, the Ministry of Internal Affairs discussed the results of the audit of the Supreme Audit Chamber, the execution of instructions within the framework of the Comprehensive Plan to Combat Drug Addiction and Drug Trafficking for 2023-2025. The event was attended by heads of government agencies, as well as deputy mayors of the regions in a remote format.
One of the issues raised by the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the strengthening of measures to block drug crime at the state border. It was noted that in order to increase the efficiency of work to combat the smuggling of precursors and devices for drug laboratories, it is necessary to increase the number of inspection equipment in the shortest possible time. In this regard, it is proposed to ensure timely and full utilization of the financing allocated for the purchase of necessary technical equipment.
The participants of the meeting expressed concern about the involvement of young people in the environment of drug use, including “pharmacy” drug addiction. The Ministry of Health is recommended to strengthen control over the work on the treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts, while ensuring full drug records.
A separate issue was discussed on the anti-drug work carried out by the Ministry of Education in educational institutions. It is noted that government agencies and civil society need to take a more serious approach to consolidating all available prevention resources in these issues.
A number of instructions were given to local executive bodies, in particular, financing anti-drug measures, assigning the functions of “working bodies” to the state and legal departments of akimats, activating the activities of regional headquarters and entrusted units for the timely implementation of measures of the Comprehensive Plan to Combat Drug Addiction and drug trafficking.
