At the republican championship of professional skills WorldSkills Kazakhstan – 2024, the national team of the Karaganda region became the third, winning eight medals: one gold, four silver and three bronze. It was attended by more than 550 college students from the country who passed the regional stages.
They competed in 30 competencies, including confectionery, tiling, bricklaying, web design and others.
The championship for students of working specialties was held in Astana. Karaganda region was represented by 28 students. Yevgeny Evseev, a third-year student of the Higher Temirtau Polytechnic College, won the only gold medal for the region's national team in the "prototyping" competence.
– At the competition, we had to make prototypes of drones in three different ways: on a 3D printer, on a TPU milling machine and with the help of hand tools such as a drill, plane, cutters. At the same time, the prototype was supposed to be easy to assemble, and the maximum error in the size of the parts was no more than 0.2 cm, – said Evgeny.
He had been preparing for the competition for a little over two months. An even more thorough and lengthy preparation awaits him: in 2025, Evgeny will take part in the world stage of the EuroSkills competition in Denmark.
– Of course, new perspectives have opened up for me. I have proved myself, gained a lot of experience, and the most important thing is yet to come. There are no specific job offers yet, because I won only yesterday. In general, I would like to work in a design bureau or in production in my specialty," says the student.
The WorldSkills competition is held annually.
It is aimed at popularizing working professions and creating high standards in education.
