The staff meeting chaired by akim of Zhambyl region Yerbol Karashukeev considered the progress of preparation for the flood period in 2025.
Head of the Department of emergency situations Arman Tokanov made a report on the agenda.
In order to prevent flooding, 1,039 km of canals, 1,615 km of ditches, 406 culverts, 299 roads and 115 railway bridges were cleared.
In addition, a regular study of the work of reservoirs on the territory of the region is carried out, including the Shon-Gate Reservoir (Kirov), located on the border.
In order to ensure the safe passage of the flood period, 27 km of canals and drainage systems were expanded, and 12 bridges were overhauled.
In case of emergency situations of a natural nature, a stock of 6,900 pieces of inert material, 16,140 tons of fuel and lubricants, 31,200 pieces of bags was created for timely elimination of their consequences.
396 points for receiving the population, 32 tents, 890 beds, 460 beds have been prepared, and 58 catering contracts have been signed.
During the flood period, 1,138 people, 781 units of equipment, 112 water pumps and 2 rowing boats will be involved.
Director of the regional branch of RSE "Kazsushar" Kairat Amanov, head of the Department of Natural Resources and environmental management Olzhas Bakkarayev, head of the Interregional Basin inspection of Shu-Talas Talgat Ibraev spoke at the meeting.

The governor of the region instructed to learn from the previously existing natural emergencies and carefully study the settlements that are threatened with flooding.
- The main focus should be on the safety of residents. In case of emergency, the algorithm of actions should be carried out systematically. However, the issue of emergency prevention should not go off the agenda!
Each strategic object must be under constant control, and the necessary measures must be taken in a timely manner to avoid disaster, – Yerbol Karashukeyev reminded that akims have personal responsibility and warned against negligence.
The head of the region instructed to install a local warning system for hydraulic structures, strengthen control over the fullness of reservoirs, the amount of water discharge into rivers, as well as regularly carry out cleaning of bridges, culverts, ditch and canal systems.
