The Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan approved the draft Law
"On the ratification of amendments to paragraph 1 of Article 12 of the Agreement on the Establishment of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in order to abolish the statutory capital restriction on ordinary operations."
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD, the Bank) is an international financial organization whose activities are aimed at supporting and developing countries with economies in transition.
In order to make operational decisions and plan its lending activities, the EBRD initiated the transfer from the Board of Governors to the Board of Directors of the authority to establish an appropriate level of capital adequacy standards.
Capital adequacy ratios regulated at the Board of Directors level will increase the efficiency and flexibility of the Bank's capital use.
The amendments were approved by the Board of Governors in 2023.
