Karaganda residents are invited to the Vistula Polish Film Festival

Karaganda residents will be able to see the best films of Polish cinema in recent years. On the upcoming Sunday, November 24, the opening of the traditional Vistula Film Festival will take place at the Saryzhailau cinema (32 Bukhar-Zhyrau Ave.). This year it is being held for the seventh time and is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Union of Poles of Kazakhstan.
The festival will last seven days. The program includes films and short films. Admission to all sessions is free.
November 24, 17:00 – the military drama "Philip" (2022), directed by Mikhail Kvechinsky. The film is based on the semi-biographical novel of the same name by Leopold Tirman. The story is about a young Jew Philip and his beloved Sarah. The action will unfold in 1941 in the Warsaw ghetto. The film has received international awards.
November 25, 18:30 – "The Double" (2023), directed by Jaan Holoubek. This is a psychological drama with elements of a thriller and a spy movie. The plot takes the audience to the very center of the Eastern European reality of the 70s and 80s. The film focuses on the lives of two men living on opposite sides of the Iron Curtain. The film received several awards at the Gdynia Festival: for directing, cinematography, set design, etc.
November 26, 18:30 – drama "Subuk" (2022), directed by Jacek Lusinski. The picture is based on the true story of the young mother of an autistic boy. Her perseverance, struggle against bureaucracy and human callousness led to significant changes in the Polish education system in 1989.
November 27, 18:30 – drama "Piletsky's Report" (2023), directed by Krzysztof Lukashevich. The history of the Second World War through the eyes of the Polish resistance fighter Witold Pilecki, who passed Auschwitz.
November 28, 18:30 – comedy "Love like honey", directed by Maciej Migas. The story of two women who are over 50: despite adversity, they decide to boldly change their lives. The leitmotif of the painting: in the heart of each of us there is a desire for love, friendship and finding our own way – regardless of age.
November 29, 15:00 – short films, theses of students of cinematography schools; 18:30 – drama "Bread and Salt" (2022), directed by Damian Kokur. The history of the inhabitants of the Polish village of Lipce against the background of the changing seasons.
November 30, 15:00 – the second part of the short films; 18:30 – the historical film "Mickiewicz fell in love" (2024), directed by Waldemar Sharek. It is based on the true story of the youthful love of the Polish poet Adam Mickiewicz.
