A meeting of the commission on the appointment of heads of regional sports departments was held in the capital under the chairmanship of the Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerbol Myrzabosynov. Candidates for senior positions in the departments of physical culture and sports of the Karaganda and Pavlodar regions were considered at the meeting.
The Commission approved the candidacy of the London Olympic Boxing champion Serik Sapiev for the post of head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Karaganda region, as well as the candidacy of Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Sports and Physical Culture of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Azamat Imashev for the post of head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Pavlodar region.
During the meeting of the commission, questions were asked about the candidates' professional experience, their plans for the development of sports in the region, as well as their knowledge in the field of sports science and management.
"At a meeting with the winners of the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games, the Head of State drew attention to the problem that regions independently decide which sports to develop. In this regard, the President instructed the Government to restore the management vertical in sports at all levels. Now candidates for senior positions in regional sports departments are approved by a commission established under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan," said Erbol Myrzabosynov.
It should be noted that candidates are proposed by local executive bodies, and only those who have received a positive opinion from the Commission acting under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports are subject to appointment.
