A solemn event on the official presentation of the newly elected academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the scientific community
Almaty, Kazakhstan (December 20, 2024) - The National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a solemn event dedicated to the official presentation of the elected academicians to the scientific community.
During the event, the newly elected full academicians of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who have made a significant contribution to the development of science in Kazakhstan, were officially presented. The solemn event was attended by Vice Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ahmed-Zaki Darkhan Zhumakanovich, Deputy Akim of Almaty city Kaldybekov Azamat Beskempirovich, academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, heads of universities, research institutes, members of the councils of young scientists, representatives of business, industry, leading domestic scientists, relatives, colleagues of newly elected academicians and media representatives.
Opening the ceremony with a welcoming speech, the President of the Academy, A.Kurishbayev, stressed the importance of the current outgoing year for Russian science, it was full of many events.
As A.Kurishbayev noted: "As you know, a modern legislative framework for science has been created, a lot of work has been done to radically change the activities of the National Academy so that it becomes a center of scientific thought, as instructed by the Head of State. Now it has become the highest scientific organization with a constantly updated composition of its members at the expense of leading scientists actively engaged in research activities. A new structure of the National Academy has been built, focused on fulfilling the main mission - uniting leading scientists of Kazakhstan in order to identify and fill existing gaps in the organization of scientific activities, determine research priorities based on a systematic and predictive analysis of the situation, as well as foresight research, develop strategically important integrated interdisciplinary scientific and technical programs, scientific and expert support for the state politics. Since the beginning of this year alone, more than 30 regional and industry foresight sessions have been held, the results of which were summarized at the final forum on December 12 this year. Based on the results of this work, 200 promising tasks for scientific research have been formulated.
The analytical center established at the Academy this year analyzed the state of Russian science and compiled a database of the country's scientific potential. An examination of 113 scientific and technical tasks of program-specific financing was carried out. The state of regional science was analyzed and, based on its results, visiting meetings of the Presidium of the National Academy were held in 4 regions with appropriate recommendations to local executive bodies on its development. Recommendations and roadmaps for the development of agricultural and medical science have been drawn up to help the line ministries. Three large integrated scientific and technical programs have been developed. For the first time, a Council of Young Scientists was established at the Academy, and the first Congress of Young Scientists of Kazakhstan was held. As part of the development of international cooperation, 27 memorandums have been signed with the world's leading scientific organizations. Based on them, 3 joint international research centers have been opened with German, Korean and Chinese research structures, and 3 international research projects have been launched with the Academies of Sciences of the USA and China."
He stressed that great responsibility is placed on the shoulders of the members of the renewed National Academy, who, through their active creative activity, must find answers to the most pressing questions and thereby turn domestic science into a driving force for the socio-economic development of society.
He also noted the principles of transparency in the process of electing academics.:
"The Head of State emphasized that the election of academy members should be as open and honest as possible, and the public should know about its procedures. In order to fulfill this requirement, new rules for the election of academy members have been developed, according to which the selection procedure consists of 3 stages. These are compliance with the established criteria, protection of their program at the Presidium of the National Academy and election at the general meeting of Academy members by voting. Moreover, in principle, civil servants, businessmen, or persons who are not engaged in research activities cannot be members of the academy. These are the basic rules for electing members of the National Academy today, and we strictly adhere to them. Today we present to you the newly elected academics. These are well-known scientists who have made a significant contribution to the development of Kazakh science."
The event culminated with a graduation ceremony for selected academicians, followed by speeches by the academicians themselves.
By the decision of the General Meeting of Academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in accordance with the Rules for the Election of Academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, approved by the Order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated September 23, 2024 No. 457, the full academic members were elected:
- in the Department of Life and Health Sciences (in the field of Medicine and Healthcare)

- in the Department of Earth, Space and Communications Science (in the areas of Natural Sciences and Engineering and Technology)

BATYRBEKOV Erlan Gadletovich.
- in the department of science "On agrobioresources and Ecology" (in the direction of "Agricultural and veterinary sciences")

- in the Department of Science "On Education and Social Development" (in the areas of "Social Sciences" and "Humanities and Art")
TAIMAGAMBETOV Zhaken Kozhakhmetovich.
For the first time in the history of Russian science, media representatives were awarded K. Satpayev jubilee medals for their active assistance in popularizing science. The event ended with a concert program prepared by the Department of Culture of the city of Almaty.
Today's event is of great importance for the scientific community of Kazakhstan, as it celebrates the achievements of outstanding scientists and highlights the important role of science in the development of the country.
