The problem with high-speed Internet in 106 remote rural schools has been solved in the Karaganda region. Thanks to the installation of satellite communications, eight thousand children have received high-quality access to educational resources. In the region, 91% of rural settlements are provided with Internet. By the end of the year, 4G mobile Internet should be brought to 13 more villages in Karkaraly and Aktogay districts.
Konstantin Ilnitsky, Head of the Department of Informatization, Public Services and Archives, reported on the implementation of the national project "Accessible Internet", adopted in 2023 on behalf of the Head of State, at a staff meeting.
– The fifth generation mobile communication is being introduced in Karaganda. As of today, 43 base stations have already been installed in the city. They work in test mode, so the speed and quality of communication may not match the stated characteristics. This work will be completed by the end of next year, during which time it is planned to install the remaining 15 antennas," he said.
To provide 5G Internet along the republican and regional highways, it is planned to install 14 antenna-mast structures. The following routes will be covered: Astana – Almaty, Karaganda – Ayagoz, Karaganda – Bayanaul, Karaganda – Pavlodar, Temirtau – Nura and Akshatau – Agadyr. Half of these projects already have project documentation with state expertise.
Active work on the national project is planned for 2025, the head of the department noted. 73 rural settlements should be covered.
– By the end of 2027, it is planned to carry fiber-optic cable to 168 villages in the region. This will provide access to the Internet for more than 59 thousand rural residents, – Konstantin Ilnitsky told about future plans.
Akim of the region Ermaganbet Bulekpayev instructed to accelerate the solution of the problem with high–quality Internet in tourist areas - in Balkhash and Karkaralinsk. It is also necessary to complete the development of a PSD for the installation of antenna-mast structures along the tracks.
The head of the department also informed about the development of the IT industry in the region. According to him, the Safe City project brings results. Over 10 months, more than 186 thousand traffic violations were recorded using digital tools, 260 criminal and 14,918 administrative offenses were identified. The implementation of the Smart Traffic Lights project has begun in Karaganda.
The Iqala e-services portal has been launched in the housing and communal services sector, where the services of eight major service providers are available.
The IT hub "Terricon Valley" has become the core of the industry's development, Konstantin Ilnitsky stressed. This resulted in an increase in tax revenues, and the volume of computer programming, consulting and other related services almost doubled – from 6.5 billion tenge to 11.6 billion tenge.
